Overview:
=========
Here available are maps for Garmin-GPS-Receivers and Android-Smartphones oder -tablets.
The maps are regularily build on the latest (newest) OpenStreetMap data.


Garmin, Mac, Win, *ix:
======================
Maps of the Freizeitkarte project are intended for users of the Garmin BaseCamp (Mac, Win) application,
QLandkarte (Mac, Win, *ix) application and owners of Garmin devices.

Garmin GPS-Device: Installation on a micro SD card:
---------------------------------------------------
- Download and unzip the install image of the Freizeitkarte map
- Insert micro SD card into your computer (using an adaptor)
- Copy the file "gmapsupp.img" into the folder "/garmin" on your micro SD card

Microsoft Windows: Installation for Garmin BaseCamp:
----------------------------------------------------
- Download and unzip the installation program of the Freizeitkarte
- Close BaseCamp (if still running)
- Install map (double click on installation program)
- Start BaseCamp

Apple Mac OS X: Installation for Garmin BaseCamp:
-------------------------------------------------
- Download and unzip the install image of the Freizeitkarte map
- Close BaseCamp (if still running)
- Install map (double click on installation program)
- Start BaseCamp

All Operating Systems: Installation for QLandkarte:
---------------------------------------------------
- Download image folder of the Freizeitkarte map
- Unzip into target folder
- Start QLandkarte
- File -> Load map
- Open tdb-file (e.g. "Freizeitkarte_Deutschland.tdb")
- Open base map (in the same directory, e.g. "Freizeitkarte_Deutschland.img")

Note:
-----
- for OS X and Windows an installed Garmin BaseCamp is required
- for the installation under OS X the program MapManager will be needed as well
- on your micro SD card you may have to create the folder "Garmin" first
- installation of the map onto the internal memory of your GPS-device is not recommended
- alternatively you can transfer the map onto the memory card of your GPS-device using an USB cable
- alternatively you can also transfer selected map tiles onto the memory card of your GPS-device using Garmin MapInstall
- we recommend to the set the display details in BaseCamp to "Maximum"
- the map should be working with Garmin MapSource as well (not tested")


Android (Smartphone, Tablet):
============================
The Freizeitkarte map (leisure map) is addressed to users of Android devices.
The Offline-Vector-Maps are based on the projects OpenStreetMap (OSM) and Mapsforge.
You can use them with various Android navigation apps (eg. Locus Map, OruxMaps, c:geo, CacheBox,...).

General:
--------
The Freizeitkarte maps always consist of two parts:
- the map data (*.map)
- the map design (theme)

Locus Map (Free or Pro):
------------------------
Install map under Locus Map (manually)
- unzip map download
- copy map (*.map) to directory "Locus/mapsVector"

Install theme under Locus Map (manually)
- unzip theme download
- copy theme directory to directory "Locus/mapsVector/_themes"

Use a map with Locus Map
- Map icon -> vector maps -> choose directory "Locus/mapsVector" -> choose map

Use a theme with Locus Map
- choose map as before -> details -> more -> external themes -> choose theme

OruxMaps:
---------
Install map under OruxMaps (manually)
- unzip map download
- copy map to "oruxmaps/mapfiles"

Install theme under OruxMaps (manually)
- unzip theme download
- copy directory to "oruxmaps/mapstyles"

Use a map with OruxMaps
- Map icon -> Switch map here -> choose map

Use a theme with OruxMaps
- Settings -> Tweaks -> Mapsforge style -> choose theme (xml-file)
